Its location was close to Burnham, Maidenhead and Wycombe where most of the children and grandchildren lived. They wanted a small town or village that had community and good services. They had enjoyed taking part in events with their towns twinning committee and looked forward to getting involved in similar activities in the new location. The ability to to walk or cycle to get the bread, paper etc was important and good road and rail links to London for theatres and museums vital. The river close by and the water taxi to the Bounty pub was an added bonus.
The house needed good off road parking as they had a small camper van used for various weekend trips. It needed a reasonable garden to grow veg, and a garage or workshop for Dads various projects. They wanted sufficient space to accommodate numerous friends and grandchildren.
