When we moved into 16 Islet Park Drive, I was 7 months pregnant and now our youngest is 18 years old. The house has changed quite a bit in those 18 years, a few neighbours have come and gone but the view from the kitchen window of the beautiful trees has been constant. The road is so quiet, it feels like you are in the countryside and a short walk takes you to the path next to the River Thames. The view across the river to Cliveden changes with the seasons, I love the early mornings when the mist is slowly lifting off the river in the Autumn and Spring when the ducklings, cygnets and goslings can be seen swimming with the paddleboarders or swimmers. Now that the Wetlands are open on Battlemead Common I often see deer feeding in the late evening.
The plan when we moved in was to update the house straight away, but it was a few years before we got around to doing the work with our hands full with a couple of toddlers. We updated the conservatory and windows early on and built the green house. In 2012 we started a double storey extension at the front of the house and a complete remodelling inside. We changed the layout upstairs to include 2 ensuite shower rooms and an ensuite bathroom and family bathroom and 4 large double bedrooms with built-in wardrobes. Downstairs we have a large office space and a lovely kitchen dining area with underfloor heating and large living room with a gorgeous log burner.

The house facilitates lots of social space as well as quiet spots to relax and read. The house heating bills have been reduced with internally insulated plaster board. We also had brand new electrics, with LED lighting, new hot water system plus a heat-recovery ventilation system which constantly provides filtered fresh air to the house. We also have Cat 6 cabling to all rooms.
We built a house with the intention of having great family space where the kids could have their own space too with room for friends to stay and room so we could work from home. The space certainly came in handy during lockdowns and the newfound appreciation of our surroundings during the lockdowns has stayed with me.

We have the best of both worlds here with the river path so close by and only a ten-minute drive to Maidenhead train station with its fast trains to London on the Elizabeth line.

16 Islet Park Drive is the only home we have known as a family and holds so many fond memories. We will all miss the great space inside and the beautiful surroundings outside. It is a wonderful family home.
