Homes like this don't come up often and this one in particular has not been on the market since it was built in 1960 and having one family owning it since then. It has been very much loved for that time but offers so much potential for this to be someones forever home!
Sellers view -
The family moved to Brambles in 1960 when I was eight years old. The house was brand new, one of a pair of mirror images. Next door, Paddock’s View (it seems to have lost its apostrophe now) has recently been developed into an impressive home. The two houses were on the site of two old farm cottages and the original well is in the middle of the front garden – now covered by grass.

Originally without mains drains, gas and often electricity, Brambles was surrounded by fields. Maiden Erlegh Stud farm (hence Paddock’s View) to the north and part of the University farm to the south, as far as the river Loddon where we fished, canoed and swam.

We all went to school in Silverdale Road and later in Reading.

Over the years the Lower Earley estate was developed, bringing buses, gas, drains, shops. And a GP surgery. This suited our ageing parents down to the ground as their needs changed and they never felt like leaving a wonderful family home.

The original garden stretched 100 yards east and our mother had extensive fruit and vegetable patches. Eventually it became too much for her, the bottom 2/3rds were sold and Hawthorns built by a local company. The gardens remain extremely fertile.

A new kitchen was installed in the 80’s and a second garage when my father retired so that he could have a workshop in the first. The guest bedroom had its cupboards converted into an en-suite shower room and more recently the original family bath changed for a walk-in tub as my mother became increasingly frail. Otherwise the house is pretty much unchanged.

Agents view -
Having walked past this home for many years as a kid and more recently seeing what next door have done with theirs I am grateful to have the opportunity to represent the sellers here with their family home.

This property was built in 1960 and have had the same family own it since then, truly remarkable and therefor it has never been on the market. Unique homes like this don't pop up too often and when they do they are so popular for multiple reasons, mainly being the potential here. You have so much space to the side and a double garage which is screaming to be extended and when you look at next door you can see what this family have done to really take a great family home into modern living, adding space, value and curb appeal.

At it stands the home offers so much living space, circa 2000 sq ft and a spacious layout which you get a sense of as soon as you step into the hallway. You have a large reception room on one side, with a feature fire place and sun room to the back of this, on the other side you have the dining room and a kitchen/breakfast room to the back of the home.
Upstairs you have three spacious double bedrooms and an adequate fourth room, there is a split shower room and w.c and the main bedrooms have fitted showers and sinks.
The property is in need of full modernisation throughout but gives the lucky new owner to really put their stamp on a family home that was evidently loved for many years.

My favourite part of this home would be the rare positioning, having been built as a pair of houses in the 60's looking onto fields behind you have great views and you area really tucked away at the end of a no through road.

Area view -
So much can be said about this location, in particular Brambles itself, set at the end of Gypsy Lane you have no passing traffic and gorgeous views onto the field behind.

You can walk to local amenities with Maiden Place being literally a stones throw from this home, offering Sainsbury's Local, options for eating such as restaurants, take aways, café and a pub and also hairdressers and barbers to name a few of the other amenities you will find here. Just further up into Lower Earley you will find Loddon Valley Leisure Centre, ASDA and Chalfont Shopping complex, with M&S and other amenities too.

At either end of the road you have bus links into Reading town centre or you also have really easy access out to the M4 motorway or train stations at Earley or Winnersh, giving you links into London nice and easily too.

Lower Earley is so well known for the schools too, bring people from all over the UK and making this a real hub for growing families and with the parks and field just being we're confident you will love it as much as we do.
