In early 2018, I started looking for my first home. Living in West London but working in Reading I knew I needed the shorter commute. A shorter commute wasn’t the only prerequisite I gave myself, I was only looking for new build properties to ensure I had to do nothing to the house and could start with a blank canvas. As you can see from the pictures, it’s still a blank canvas!
One of the first developments I looked at was Hatchwood Mills, still being built at the time by Bovis Homes. Being one of the first to buy in the latest phase meant that I could choose which plot I would soon call home. I chose plot 64, why? The main selling point to me was the fact it wasn’t overlooked, many of the new developments will leave you feeling as though the world was watching at all times. Choosing this particular end of terrace plot also meant my driveway was not shared, and provided good side access to the garden at the rear.
Traveling for work has been a breeze, with super easy access to the motorway, as well as a quick trip to Reading on the train if needed. When not working, taking a short walk to Dinton Pastures is a great way to unwind.

Hatchwood Mill is really well situated in between Wokingham and Reading towns, offering easy access to both by public transport links and various options for train stations not too far. There are local amenities including Sainsbury's not too far, a cinema and various pubs/restaurants all within walking distance. My personal favourite point of this area is the amount of green space that is on your doorstep, there are plenty of local walks and you can quite easily get to Dinton Pastures, just perfect to have so close.
