The agent's view... - The opportunity to live in an instantly recognisable building within Wokingham is something special. There is also a lovely community at Hulbert Gate spurred by the communal garden space in the grounds of the development.
You are with a couple of minutes stroll from both the town centre with its restuarants, cafes and bars, and also the station providing direct access to London Waterloo, Reading, Guildford and Gatwick airport.
The seller's view... - I fell in love with Admiral Cottage as soon as I saw it!
In 2012, I was relocating from London to Wokingham and was looking initially for a rental property but also a place I could see myself living in eventually. Having seen so many soul-less, compacted new builds, this property had all the character, charm and heart I was looking for.
Nestled in a part of central Wokingham, it is steeped in history. The Grade II listed property was beautifully converted in 2006. It is set apart from the rest of the converted flats with it has its own entrance gate and front door so it feels like a home. Its secure gated car parking area (RARE for Wokingham centre) and its communal garden at the back were a real draw for me.
For a one bedroomed home, it is surprisingly spacious. With high ceilings and large living/kitchen area and bedroom, there is ample living space compared to more contemporary properties. Best of all, it is in the heart of Wokingham - turn right out of the gate and Wokingham Town with all its amenities - bars, restaurants, shops etc. - are within walking distance. Turn left and Wokingham Station with links to London, Guildford and Gatwick is on the doorstep.
It is a perfect home for anyone who loves town living and loves the energy of being close and connected to a thriving and growing market town community. Above all, it's unusual, characterful, interesting and pretty! I'll be sad to let it go...
The area view... - Wokingham has been judged the best town in Britain a number of times in recent years thanks to it's market town
