IMPORTANT RIGHT TO RENT UPDATE

There has recently been some important information released by the Home Office in relation to Right to Rent Checks.

The temporary measures put in place on the 20th March 2020 were due to end on the 17th May 2021 but has in fact been extended to the 20th June 2021 meaning face-to-face checks will be required as of the 21st June 2021

The below temporary measures can be used until the 20th June 2021;

• Checks can be carried out over video calls
• Tenants can send scanned documents or a photo of documents for checks using email or a mobile app rather than send originals
• Landlords should use the Landlord checking service if a prospective or existing Tenant cannot provide any of the accepted documents

Please remember it is a criminal offence to knowingly rent to a person who does not have the right to rent in the UK.
